Sensing Hands is the name of my healing practice. The name relates to both my Tai Chi Chuan and Shiatsu practice. In Tai Chi, Sensing Hands (Tui Shou) is the name of the exercise where two people help one another to develop. It can be either highly choreographed or free form, within limits. Both players use sensitivity and relaxation to understand their partner and themselves, in order to find and open areas of tension, and to learn how to direct and redirect the dynamic flow of energy between each. This is virtually the same in Shiatsu, the difference being that in the Shiatsu practice it is a therapeutic setting, the practitioner "listens" to the client who will indicate areas of imbalance The practitioner will then help direct and redirect the flow of energy in the client to help restore a healthy state. To do this the practitioner must be highly sensitive to the client to feel the movement of energy within the client; direct contact between the client and practitioner is primarily through the hands.
